Job Description

Position Overview

The Solar Performance Analyst will be responsible for assisting in the monitoring, analysis, and improvement of the performance of solar power systems. They will support the development and implementation of continuous improvement programs to optimize the efficiency and productivity of solar installations. The analyst will work closely with the asset coordinators and field service team to identify performance gaps, contribute to corrective actions, and track the effectiveness of implemented improvements. 
The Analyst will be responsible for developing the department’s capabilities to track and analyze the production of the facilities that we manage. This position will collaborate regularly with the solar asset coordinators to ensure contractual compliance of our sites, as well as offer guidance and advice for repairs and production improvements. This position reports to the Director of O&M.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support daily monitoring of contracted sites and analyze logs and exception reports to ensure 100% compliance with customer requirements, and maintaining a portfolio-wide availability of ≥95%
  • Conduct remote investigations, performance analysis, and reporting while providing technical support to field technicians, responding to issues according to project specific, and departmental SLAs
  • Implement performance assessments, identify gaps, and provide actionable recommendations, ensuring performance issues are addressed within target timeframes.
  • Escalate critical issues to maintain operations and track progress against project models and production targets
  • Accurately document operating issues in the CMMS in a timely manner with minimal data entry errors
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to maximize system performance and ensure contractual compliance
  • Develop, revise, and review solar system performance procedures annually
  • Perform root cause investigations and recommend corrective actions aiming to minimize return truck rolls
  • Develop and implement systems and processes to perform industry-standard performance measurements, including Capacity Testing, Performance Ratios, and availability testing, to evaluate system health within the first 12 months of employment.
  • Collaborate with the Asset Coordinator team to implement improvement initiatives and support the planning, screening, and execution of corrective actions.
  • Conduct self-assessments of solar system performance, 
  • Collect and analyze data to evaluate improvement programs and provide actionable insights.
  • Prepare performance reports and communicate status updates to asset coordinators and stakeholders, on time and without errors
  • Evaluate inspection reports and recommend corrective actions based on analysis of data
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or sciences.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the solar industry or any other energy-related industry such as nuclear energy and renewable energy.
  • Knowledge or familiarity with solar power systems and associated performance metrics.
  • Excellent communication and report-writing abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop skills in solar performance analysis.
  • Basic language and math skills necessary to safely perform required tasks
  • Strong work ethic, excellent communication skills, attention to detail and safety oriented
  • Strong excel skills specifically relating to data analysis

Preferred

  • The ability to remote into local control networks for troubleshooting and analysis
  • Experience with SEL relays, software, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical and project design drawings.
