We're looking for a forward­ thinking, highly motivated Parks Superintendent who wants to help shape that future!

About the Opportunity:

As Parks Superintendent, you will lead the full scope of park operations across the district­ including maintenance, planning, construction oversight, recreation programming, budgeting, and staff leadership. This is a hands-on, community-driven leadership role ideal for someone who is passionate about building great public spaces and delivering high-quality recreation services. You'll guide a dedicated team, collaborate closely with community partners, and help turn visionary ideas into real improvements throughout our parks system. With major projects already underway, this is a rare chance to step into a role with momentum, resources, and support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, administration, and evaluation of all parks and recreation programs and facilities.
  • Recommend policies, capital projects, and program improvements to the Board-and oversee implementation.
  • Supervise full-time staff, part-time staff, and volunteers, providing coaching, direction, and performance management.
  • Manage departmental budgeting, purchasing, inventory, and resource allocation.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, operational analyses, and long-range planning for new facilities and upgrades.
  • Engage directly with elected officials, community organizations, residents, and partner agencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards, including OSHA requirements.
  • Support building and grounds maintenance personnel as needed.
  • Maintain required licenses and certifications and model dependable, consistent leadership.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Physical Education, Exercise Science, Recreation Management, Public Administration, or a related field
  • At least five years of relevant experience in management, operations, or administration
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered

Licensing:

  • Certified Parks and Recreation Professional (CPRP) preferred

Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong leadership, decision-making,and problem-solving
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and diverse personnel
  • Clear communication and professional writing skills
  • Ability to develop constructive relationships with staff, partners, and the public
  • Competence with modern office technology and reporting tools
